GM ends Tiger Woods endorsement deal

In a “mutual and amicable” announcement, GM and Tiger Woods have decided to “break up.” The endorsement deal is said to run its course by the end of the year. The original deal was supposed to be a five year deal, ending at the end of 2009, so it will be ending a year early…however, in the agreement between Woods and GM, he will drive Buick cars through 2009. Woods has been endorsing Buick for 9 years.

With GM in the trouble its in, an endorsement deal isn’t exactly where it should be concentrating. This, I believe, is one step in the right direction, to show that it is willing to cut costs. Perhaps GM will continue to perform these cost cutting measures and impress Congress enough to get the loan it wants.
